![]() ![]() (PS: everything I said here applies to any AI difficulty, including Extreme) Like alexej said: if you let the AI boom, you're screwed. After you've secured a huge economic lead: you can just slowly push in with trebs while you guard them with trash units. After awhile, you will easily have double his score by doing this. Meanwhile don't stop macroing at home: make several TCs, take the map's resources, expand aggressively. The AI will panic and move all of his villagers back, while also investing heavily in pikemen/skirmishers to counter you. Just make a TC next to theirs in Feudal and instant GG.)ĭo a standard fast castle, make knights or cavalary archers, and go harass his worker line. (Speaking of which: AI is also terrible at dealing with Cuman TC rush. Assuming you don't want to win by cheesing them with a tower rush, then boom+harass is your best bet. You'll never win head-on-head engagements because they will tear you apart with micro. They are able to flawlessly control units all over the place while also perfectly macroing at home. The AI cheats by having more APM than humanly possible. The problem is that the AI can micromanage each individual unit 100% of the time, so when I hit them with 140 fully upgraded paladins and 6 trebuchets, their 20 priests immediately convert 20 different paladins, their onagers always target the largest groups of units, they micromanage their pikemen so that groups of 5 pikemen will target individual paladins and kill them quickly, then more monk conversions, my paladins are constantly targeting buildings and villagers instead of their military units, their hand cannons and onagers long range units are targeting my trebuchets, so after maybe 1 minute my army of 140 fully upgraded paladins have evaporated into nothing and all I've managed to achieve is maybe knock down one enemy castle. My food/wood/gold collected is always higher than theirs at the end of a game, and my largest army is always twice the size of theirs at the end of the game (150 compares to their 75-ish). I have no problem keeping up with the AI in score, villager production, resource collection or military production. I've played around 10 games so far, 1v1, against a hard AI (random civ). ![]()
