"NBC, when they were coming up with the 'Spider-Man' show, wanted to emulate 'Super Friends.' They needed a 'Super Friends' because ABC was doing very well with it and it had been on for many years." Hoberg added how the creative team avoided most of the camp of the DC series intentionally and focused on the dramatic side of superhero stories for the most part. Speaking to Animation Magazine, story artist Rick Hoberg explained where the decision to create this team-up series came from.
